Wisdom, Wives & Worship Part 2
Acquire wisdom! Acquire understanding! Do not forget nor turn away from the words of my mouth. “Do not forsake her, and she will guard you; Love her, and she will watch over you. “The beginning of wisdom is: Acquire wisdom; And with all your acquiring, get understanding. “Prize her, and she will exalt you; She will honor you if you embrace her. (NASB)
Love her, and she will watch over you.
We know that wisdom comes from God through Jesus; therefore, if we Love wisdom we are loving the grace that God gave us through Jesus – which we do not deserve. (“Grace” the giving you of something you do not deserve, we do not deserve Jesus to bear our sins and save us from Hell)
Loving wisdom shows that we take our salvation seriously. Let us think about this for a moment, if we say we love our parents, spouse or children and they do not “watch over us”, remain cognizant or active in our lives – then how can we say we are administering love to them? This is a curious question. One thing I would suggest, perhaps they aren’t receiving your wisdom or you aren’t loving them. This may be hard to swallow, but we have to look at ourselves first and ensure we don’t have a plank in your own eye [Luke 6:42] before we go blaming someone else. Then, if we have checked ourself, it may be possible they are not receiving our love due to a previous sin we haven’t, or they haven’t, repented of. It is quite possible, the two people involved in this perdicament are not evenly yolked [2 Corinthians 6:14]or reconciled [Matthew 5:24].
The beauty of this is, we aren’t we are not dealing with fallen sinner to sinner relationships; rather God to sinner relationships. God loves His people so much that He gives abundantly [John 10:10] and generously [James 1:5]. In fact “our cup overflows” [Palm 23:5]. He is faithful to fulfill His purposes. In this relationship, the question is not “Why won’t God?” but “Where is my heart at?”, “Do I have any sin(s) in my life I need to repent of?” or perhaps God wants to speak to you using His Church; therefore, are you attending corporate worship…faithfully. If you aren’t, you are probably missing out on faithful ministers of the Word who could be dramtically impacting your life for the sake of Jesus.
So, now to the real question. Do you love Jesus or do you think you love Jesus? Not in the brotherly (“Good Friend”, “Buddy Jesus”) ”phileo” way, but in he selfless (All about Him, Sacrificial) ”agape” way. Because if you selflessly, sacrificially love wisdom; which is only provided by God through Jesus – then, you must be loving Jesus…faithfully…actively…responsively. When we get a renewed heart from God, we begin to switch, transform and change our thinking [Romans 12:2]and our desires to love God; then and only then, will He watch over you and make sure we are walking the way we were originally intended to walk.
Bottom line, Love Jesus and He will watch over you.
Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior. But now he has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation— if you continue in your faith, established and firm, not moved from the hope held out in the gospel. This is the gospel that you heard and that has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven
